Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Many people go through life experiencing trauma, pain, stress, and grief. In order to move on with their lives, they tend to pack all the above into their sub-conscience . However, over time, if not dealt with appropriately, there are triggers and flashbacks that bring back the memories that have been packed away. This results in feeling anxious, panicked and fearful. This is what we call PTSD.
These people feel stuck with a constant sense of danger and painful memories that do not fade. Family members, friends or a witness who have not actually experienced the trauma but have witnessed it or have gone through the trauma with their friends or family members can all suffer with PTSD. I treat my clients using Psychotherapy along with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This therapy has been widely researched and found to be the most effective treatment for PTSD.
